Apartments Building in Quinta da Beloura - Sintra - Housing
The implantation of this building took into consideration the solar exposure, the dominant wind system and the vegetation. The implantation of the building creates a green space in the front of the lot, so that the accesses to the apartments are a rich path between the natural and the built.
Outdoor spaces
There is a large outdoor space in the rear of the plot, to which "open" the social areas of the apartments, protecting them from the movement of the road access to the building.
- The outdoor area to the rear - is designed so that different spaces are created, some more gathered, others less, allowing the simultaneous enjoyment of the space in different ways: individual reading, collective games, etc., consisting of three zones: - A Pergola zone, with part in impermeable pavement and part permeable pavement, constituting a shaded living space. This is a calm space of contemplation and enjoyment of the serenity that the recessed garden has to offer; - A Brazier area semi-buried in the ground, offering the possibility of enjoying the outdoor space even in the coldest times of the year and nights, strategically placed so that it is part of a romantic setting, surrounded by trees and vegetation and from where you can contemplate not only the garden but also the building.
- The Green zone - in the entire back area that will connect through a marked path on the ground between the two previously mentioned zones and from these to the front of the lot.
This is made up of a large lawn, and will present slight modeling of the terrain in order to bring diversity in the spaces presented, as well as being provided all around by trees and low vegetation, in order to bring calm and privacy, as well as protection from the winds into the lot. The exterior area in front of the lot is designed so that the access to the houses is not just an access, it is intended to achieve this through three areas: - An access area to the Parking, all with semi-permeable circulation sidewalks and placed in the area of lower natural elevation of the land, on the side of the Alameda, so that the access to the covered parking will cause minimal changes to the land. This is provided with outdoor parking where its marking will be carried out with elements that make it an integral part of the green area, which connects it to the back of the building, but that mark their separation; - A walkway area that will serve as a connection between the pedestrian entrance of the Lot and the entrances to the dwellings. This will be composed of a system of light ramps, which overcome the differences in elevation and will be constituted along its entire length by a system of pergolas covered with creepers, which aim to bring a romantic image to the route, as well as comfort with their shading for those who use them. - A Green Zone that aims the union and integration between the spaces mentioned, as well as the connection between the front of the lot and the back. This will consist of low vegetation, as well as large trees near the limits of the lot at the northernmost point, to offer protection from the winds felt in the area.
The building above the ground consists of 2 blocks with individual entrances, each of them developing at the level of the ground floor, first floor and second floor. Below the ground, the basement occupies the full extent of the building, with direct access to the staircases as well as the respective elevators to access the two blocks. The ground floor and 1st floor have two apartments for each block, and on the 2nd floor they each have a single fraction. The project proposes a total of 10 fractions.
Each of the apartments has an entrance area, 1 social area with adjacent kitchen and pantry, 1 Sanitary Social Facility, and a covered outdoor service area. The T3 also have 2 bedrooms supported by a toilet and a suite with closet and toilet. In the T4 are added to these rooms 1 more suite and respective Sanitary Installation. On the top floor each of the blocks is occupied by 1 apartment T4 that adds to the previous description a large social area with different living and dining space. These fractions also have large terrace areas. The design of the apartments privileged the view and the relationship with the garden in the social areas as well as a clear communication between the kitchen and the living room. The balconies in the living room emphasize the relationship of this space with the outside garden. This great communication between the kitchen and the living room led to the creation in all fractions of a specific area for the treatment of clothes. A direct circulation between the divisions was promoted in all fractions that compose them, i.e., the entrance hall of the housing distributes directly to the social area and to the private area of the housing, and in the case of the apartments of the floor 0 and 1, the circulation for the social area is still divided into two distinct accesses, one for the kitchen and treatment of clothes and another for the living room and dining area. In the case of the social area of the apartments on the 2nd floor, despite being a single, wide space, the different areas that compose it are clearly visible.
