Quinta da Bemposta, in Monserrate, is located next to a waterline, in one of the hills of the Serra de Sintra. The farm bounding the road of Monserrate features two buildings, the main one consisting of two distinct volumes. Of vernacular architecture, the interior division of the buildings presented tight spaces for today’s needs, kitchens and dysfunctional sanitary facilities, the necessity for rehabilitation of the infrastructures and the necessity of occasional structural reinforcements. The installation of alarm and climatization systems was also necessary. The project was always developed with the aim of achieving the coordination of the necessity of answering the functional needs of a contemporary life while the building does not lose its own identity.
