Two Houses - Project for Quinta da Aroeira - Almada - Housing

The house has a ground floor, an upper floor and a basement where the parking and technical support spaces are located.

Ground Floor

A small water course was created on the ground floor, dotted with small platforms, which aim to implement an additional serenity to the place and simultaneously provide a security barrier between the ground level and the gym area in the basement.

This water mirror gives lightness to the construction, provides a more comfortable environment around the house and leads the user from the main access of the house to the pool area. Next to the pool, and serving as support, a small annex was created.

The ground floor contains the social area of the house that consists of an entrance area and of a large south-facing living room that on its exterior extension will have a covered porch. On this floor there is also a kitchen, a social toilet and three suites.

All the spaces, with the exception of the sanitary facilities, have direct access to the outside of the house, and the southern elevation of these areas is protected from the sun by pergolas.

Upper Floor

The upper floor of the house consists of three suites, each with a private access terrace, taking advantage of the orientation of the house to enjoy the outdoor space.

The roof of the villa is composed of either flat terraces or sloping roofs with tile coating.

Basement

The basement floor, which is located below the constructive perimeter of the first floor contains, in addition to a private covered parking space, with capacity for 4 places, technical support spaces to the villa such as storage rooms, storage, swimming pool equipment, and others that may be needed.

A gym area with direct access to the outside is located in the basement.

Access for vehicles to the basement parking area is made from the north side of the lot, entering directly to the basement floor. It takes advantage of the topography of the terrain, so that it is not necessary to use access ramps.

Exterior Areas

The exterior leisure area to the south of this villa comprises a swimming pool and a small living area that were designed to give continuity to the main body of the house.

The supporting annex serves to house a small toilet and an outdoor shower. Simultaneously it creates a small shaded area by means of a pergola. This annex also has a suite, which supports the main house.

The villa's surroundings clearly comprise two zones of exterior arrangements: a formal zone located between the villa and the exterior support and leisure equipment, and another zone characterized by the maintenance of the existing terrain's flora and autochthonous trees.
